Usually a man’s breasts develop in a low level. So many people pay little attention to it. Practically not just women suffering from breast diseases, a man may also get distressed because of the enlarged breasts. A positive and right treatment is what he needs in the face of this condition.

Gynecomastia is the development of abnormally large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement. Medical scientists believe the major reasons are excessive secretion of estrogen due to endocrine disturbance or the increased sensitivity of estrogen receptor. The incidence is about 30%.

Clinically we categorize it into two types: primary case and secondary case. And both the first and second type has several sub-types.

1.1 Adolescent Gynecomastia: In adolescent boys (11-21 years old) the condition often appears in both sides as 2 to 4 cm bumps under the areola papillaris, but for the large majority of boys, the breast development shrinks or disappears within a couple of years (in most cases 2 years).

1.2 Elderly Gynecomastia: in most cases it happens in one side. The patients usually are aged from 55 to 75. This condition would disappear within a year.

2.1 Sexual Hypofunction Induced Gynecomastia: this condition usually happens to male patients who are suffering from testicular hypofunction or sex gland hypofunction.

2.2 Systemic Disease Induced Gynecomastia: this condition usually happens to patients whose liver function is damaged due to blood dialysis, and patients of thyroid gland or adrenal gland hyperfunction.

2.3 Tumor Induced Gynecomastia: in most cases, it is caused by orchioncus or adrenal gland tumor.

2.4 Drug-induced Gynecomastia: Patients who take too much estragon may have this condition.
